Detail

  • Information
  • Dr. Sohn’s research interest is neural mechanism of motor control. As its application, he carries on research projects on bi-directional brain machine interface and active-adaptive intelligence for artificial intelligence development. His main research tool is multi electrode implanted array recording and stimulation technique on non-human primate.

He graduated from Seoul National University with bachelor and master degree majoring in nuclear engineering and cognitive science (focused on spiking neural network) respectively. He got Ph.D degree from University of Rochester, in brain and cognitive sciences during which his research theme was sequence motor learning. For his postdoctoral training, he studied on network properties of the primary motor and premotor cortex for motor control at University of Pittsburgh. Before joining Catholic Kwandong University, he was a principle researcher at Medical Device Development Center of Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation

Detail

  • Information
  • Chang Hee Nam received his Ph. D. in plasma physics from Princeton University in 1988. After working at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory as a staff research physicist until 1989, he joined Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) as a faculty member and became a full professor in 1998. He started the Coherent X-ray Research Center in 1999 with the funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology through the Creative Research Initiative Program. After finishing the CXRC program in 2012, he launched the Center for Relativistic Laser Science (CoReLS), a research center of Institute for Basic Science (IBS), for the exploration of relativistic laser-matter interactions using femtosecond PW lasers at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). He has received several awards including the scientist-of-the-month award from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the award from the National Academy of Science. He was recently awarded an Order of Science and Technology Merit from the Korean Government. He has served the scientific advisory committees of ELI - ALPS in Hungary, ELI-NP in Romania, and also Int. Science and Technology Advisory Committee of ELI-DC. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and of the Optical Society of America.

Detail

  • Information
  • Chul Min Kim received his Ph. D. in physics from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2006 with a theoretical analysis of atomic high harmonic generation in a two-color laser field. In the same year, he joined Advanced Photonics Research Institute (APRI), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology as a staff scientist and has been working there so far. At APRI, he extended his research scope to include laser-plasma physics and conducted theoretical research on plasma-based x-ray lasers and x-ray holography. In 2012, joining as a campus research fellow Center for Relativistic Laser Science, Institute for Basic Science, he began to study relativistic laser-plasma interactions. He is interested in the novel physics embodied in ultra-intense light-matter interactions.
